Online Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in English for young adults and their caregivers

Who am I?

I am an established German children and adolescent psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience in the field of psychodynamic psychotherapy. As a committed psychotherapist, I treat infants, children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 21. In addition, I am the director of my own institute for dog-assisted psychotherapy and offer clinical supervision. Moreover, I hold a position as a guest lecturer at the University of Wuppertal focusing on borderline personality disorder, and work as an EMDR therapist.

My analytical stance is mainly influenced by an intersubjective approach, which understands psychotherapy as a collaborative process between therapists and patients. From early childhood onwards, our relationships leave traces in our inner world and affect our feelings, thoughts and behaviours throughout our lives. Within the therapeutic relationship, these inner patterns can be explored and may help us develop a deeper understanding of the difficulties you may be facing. Over time, new ways of understanding and relating can emerge, so that change can become possible.

How I work?

Young adulthood can be a challenging phase of life, especially when emotional difficulties, psychological distress or earlier relational experiences make development and everyday life harder to manage. At times, life may feel overwhelming, painful or difficult to cope with.

In my understanding of psychodynamic therapy, it is crucial to provide you with a safe space where your difficulties can be explored. You will find a warm and respectful atmosphere here. At the same time, openness and direct reflection may also become part of the therapeutic process when helpful.

People may seek therapy for:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Depression

  • Self-esteem difficulties

  • Attachment-related challenges

  • Personality disorders

  • Complex Trauma

  • Difficulties with loss and separation

  • and other emotional difficulties.

Depending on your needs we will schedule regular 50-minute sessions from one up to three sessions per week if necessary. If you are insured by a German health insurance provider, costs may be covered depending on your insurance plan, otherwise sessions would need to be self-funded. Fees are based on the German fee schedule for psychotherapists.

Why Online Psychotherapy?

I reserve a number of appointments for online patients, so I can offer treatment at shorter notice or will be able to bridge a gap if you’ve already been on a waiting list.

Beyond that, online psychotherapy allows you to work with me even if you are not nearby or even live in another country. For patients who are not able to attend in-person sessions, this format offers greater accessibility.

Online therapy can offer the same regularity and continuity as face-to-face sessions.

Even across distance, a meaningful therapeutic relationship can develop and talking in your native language may feel more comfortable.

How to start?

If you are between 18 and 21 years old and interested in online psychotherapy, please feel free to send me a short message.

Before we meet for the first time, I will send you further information about the practical aspects of beginning therapy. This also gives us the opportunity to begin getting to know each other.

During our first session I will invite you to speak about the difficulties you are experiencing, which may help me understand whether I will be the right person to support you with your concerns. Within the first few sessions, we can explore together, whether ongoing therapy may be helpful.
